James G. Echement, Executive Director

Jim currently serves as Executive Director. He joined The Mission in April of 2003 and served as Director of Development until March of 2012 when he was named to his present position by the Mission Board of Trustees.
Prior to joining The Mission, Jim spent 10 years as a consultant affiliated with 5 boutique firms across the country specializing in growth opportunities. Over 15 years of manufacturing and project management experience equipped Mr. Echement for his consulting season. He helped business leaders successfully implement both organic and acquisition growth strategies by continuous improvement in productivity and quality through focused, integrated process control.
A graduate of Duquesne University, Mr. Echement holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He has guest lectured on integrated process management at their Graduate School of Business. Jim volunteers on a graduate student program with Carnegie Mellon's Tepper School of Business and has guest lectured at the Pennsylvania State University Shenango Campus on Social Services.
In 2008 Jim achieved certification as a Certified Fund Raising Executive and re-certified in 2011. He is a past officer on the Board of Directors for the Mahoning/Shenango Chapter of Association of Fundraising Professionals; a recently elected member of the Board of Directors of the Mahoning-Youngstown Community Action Partnership (MYCAP); and Co-Chair of the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley Senior Vision Council.
Mr. Echement and his wife Phyllis reside in Poland, Ohio and are the parents of three grown children. They are members of Kingdom Community Church in Struthers Ohio where they team-teach an adult Bible study class. Jim is one of the founding Elders. They have both been on mission trips to China and Tibet, support several missionaries around the world, and enjoy traveling.
He is a former United States Marine with active service in foreign and domestic assignments.
