Fall 2016 – Some critical events have been taking place at Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley.

For over 120 years this organization has stood as a beacon of hope for the homeless and hungry children, women and men in our Valley.  This is not all that the Mission provides: it also provides skill assessment and job placement, education, work force development, recovery and social services.  The overnight stay population on 2008 was 23,000 people. In 2015 it exploded to 48,000, which is more than double.

Currently we have:

Our building is old, in constant need of repair, the infrastructure is failing, there is no play area for children – families are crammed in rooms. Our critical need is to build a new building to house the growing population not just for now but for the future.  We are not funded by any government entities or United Way. Our donations are from local donors, business people and churches.

Outside economic development organizations have recognized the impact the Rescue Mission has on our community so much so that they have made available $4,000,000 of new money in grants and tax credits to the Mission only if we collect another $4,000,000 in pledges from our local donors and community.  As you see we do not want to lose this great opportunity.

The need is real and the need is now.  Would you please help us in our campaign to “Move Our Mission?

Thank you!
